Surface acid properties of Nb2O5–P2O5–SiO2 gel-derived catalysts

Amorphous catalytic materials belonging to the Nb 2 O 5 –P –SiO system were prepared through an original sustainable sol-gel procedure, and characterized by surface area, porosity acidity measurements. Their acid properties have been investigated FT-IR spectroscopy of adsorbed pyridine, ammonia titration TPR, as well with 2-phenylethylamine from organic solution. They present Lewis attributed niobium cationic centers, Brønsted sufficiently strong protonate pyridine. The total depends on content. conversion ethanol was vapor phase Temperature Programmed Reaction, steady-state experiments static In Situ FTIR experiments. samples are active in converting ethylene 100% selectivity at low (523–573 K), but also produce acetaldehyde dehydrogenation higher temperature conversion. show unusually poor activity for production diethylether Ethoxy groups act reaction intermediates. • Nb2O5–P2O5–SiO2 a new procedure. both gas/solid water/solid interfaces. NbOH POH sites 5+ sites. tested conversion, acetaldehyde. Selectivity moderate approaches 100%.
